Promoting diversity is a significant priority for Electronic Arts’ TS4 team. In their commitment to enhance representation within the game, developers are introducing an expanded range of skin and hair options. Features like birthmarks, stretch marks, scars, and freckles are incorporated to add a unique touch to each Sim, providing players with a more individualized gameplay experience. The introduction of Vitiligo options further reduces the necessity for players to exclusively depend on custom content (CC).

In The Sims, the Vitiligo feature presents a diverse array of patterns, coverage levels, and symmetries that can be applied to various facial features, torso sections, and limbs. Notably, Vitiligo patterns seamlessly blend with all skin tones, ensuring accessibility for Sims of all ages.

The TS4 team has created a total of 61 Vitiligo variants, encompassing all age groups for the initial release.

  • The color of the Vitiligo pattern cannot be altered; it is dependent on the natural hue of the skin.
  • Vitiligo does not influence gameplay in TS4.
  • Players can layer tattoos and body hair with Vitiligo for added customization.
  • However, birthmarks and Vitiligo cannot be layered together.

Navigate to the Skin Details category for either Face or Body, and there you’ll discover a variety of Vitiligo variants to select from.

It’s worth noting that you only need the TS4 Base Game to access the Vitiligo Feature; no additional Packs or Expansions are required.

Model Winnie Harlow has collaborated with EA for the TS4 Vitiligo update. Simmers have the opportunity to download a version of her Sim-self and her Hollywood home directly from The Sims 4 Gallery.

Winnie Harlow expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s magical to see The Sims 4 team introduce this new Vitiligo feature. As a child, I spent a lot of time playing The Sims, and I think it’s so beautiful to be able to represent your true self in-game. This partnership is a powerful statement encouraging players to embrace what makes them unique – both in-game and in real life.”
